It is mainly used in the process of well repair in oil and gas fields. It can be used to salvage cylindrical hollow objects such as drill pipes, casings and oil pipes. It can be used in conjunction with tools such as internal cutters and jars. If the fish is stuck and cannot be lifted out, the salvage spear can be withdrawn to lift the drill bit. In the undercut operation, it has two functions of completing the catching and transmitting the left-hand torque at the same time. It can replace the left-hand thread male and female cones, and its function is similar to the undercut joint. The difference is that the tool does not need to be buckled with the fish, and can salvage any part of the inner diameter of the fish. The tool has a simple structure, easy operation and maintenance.

Structural principle:

The structure of the slip salvage spear is shown in the figure below. It consists of a core shaft, slips, a release ring, a guide cone, etc. Each model of salvage spear can be equipped with multiple slips of different sizes for selection during operation.

How to operate:

After the slip is selected, it is assembled and the guide cone is tightened. Before going down the well, the slip is in the release position. That is, the slip should be rotated downward to press against the release ring. The fish top entry and salvage entry should be calculated before drilling. When the fish top is deformed or has inverted burrs, it should be milled off first. Depending on the specific situation, whether to start the pump for salvage, you can lower the plug.

How to salvage:

① Slowly lower the drill string until the salvage spear enters the expected depth of the fish;

② Rotate the drill tool 1.5 to 2 times to the left, then slowly lift the drill tool to catch the fish;

③ If the fish is stuck, you can first perform a mobile release. If it still doesn't work, you can use a shock release.

Remove the salvage spear underground:

① First use the weight of the drill tool to strike down to loosen the engagement between the slip and the fish; 

② Rotate the tool 3 to 3.5 times to the right;

③ Then use a hanging weight of 2 to 3 tons greater than the salvage spear to lift it up, and the fish can generally be removed. At this time, you can also rotate to the right while lifting it up.

Slip selection:

Before performing the salvage operation, you should first print and check the actual size of the fish water eye, especially for pipes that have been used for a long time. Then select the slip of the corresponding size.

After the slip is selected, assemble it and tighten the guide cone. Before going down the well, the slip is in the release position, that is, the slip should be rotated down to resist the release ring.
